Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of people do you tend to work with?
I have extensive experience with children six and older, and find that I enjoy working with people throughout the adult lifespan. I have seen thousands of teenagers and young adults, as well as individual adults and couples over my 32 year career. The people who come to my practice tend to be bright, successful people who have areas in their life where things are not working as well as they could. They are motivated to change and have the courage to look at the patterns of their own thinking and take action to make things different in their life.
When you see clients?
I see people in my West Bloomfield office on weekdays from nine in the morning with my last appointment starting at seven in the evening. I work Tuesday through Saturday. On Saturday I see people from 9 to 4.
How often would I come in?
I usually see people once per week, sometimes more frequently if there is a crisis. As treatment progresses and we began to see good clinical change then we begin to space appointments over time to move towards ending therapy.
What is the length of treatment?
The average number of sessions range is 15, although there is a very large range based on individual circumstance. I continue treatment until the individual feels comfortable that they have made the life changes necessary to function without continued therapeutic support. The brain optimization techniques tend to move things along more quickly and decrease the overall length of treatment.
How long does a session last?
The first psychotherapy session typically takes an hour.
Subsequent psychotherapy sessions are usually 45 minutes.
The first neurofeedback assessment takes about an hour. Subsequent neurofeedback treatment sessions typically take around 15 minutes.
What are your fees?
Initial session $190.
Psychotherapy session $150.
Initial Neurofeedback Assessment $300.
Subsequent LENS treatment sessions $100. (Fee is reduced to $80 per session if the individual purchases a bundle of 10 prepaid nonrefundable sessions).
Will I be reimbursed by the insurance company for supplements because they are being recommended by a mental health professional?
No. Supplements are not included in the prescription benefit by any insurance company and are always an out of pocket expense.
What forms of payment you accept?
Cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, or American Express.
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes.
